Un Voyage à Montréal (March x–x, 2004)

The second time I visited Montreal was during spring break my junior year, when I was a sort of unofficial TA for "The Montreal Experience," a special-topics class in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures based on the community-service trips I'd helped organize two years before. This is the journal that I kept (in French) and turned in as a class assignment. It's still Frnech only for now, but eventually I hope to post a translation.

Smoky Mountains Backpacking Trip (May 20–26, 2005)

My undergrad graduation bonus, in a certain sense, was an extra week off before summer work started in order to run off to the Smokies with a few friends. It was the first time I had ever done any real backpacking, and it was great fun! I kept a pretty detailed trip notebook on this one.

Walking to West Virginia (May 27, 2006)

Five kids with nothing to do on a Saturday? Sounds like the perfect time to attempt a nice 38-mile stroll from the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh to the closest state boundary. We got the idea from a successful attempt at Ohio that had been carried out by others a year or two before, and then our own trip turned out to be the first in a series of long walks for me.

San Francisco (August 8–18, 2008)

People can no longer give me "I can't believe it!" looks when I tell them I've never been to California. I finally made it out there for a long stay with Alan in the city, a visit to the big ex-CMU crew in Mountain View, and even some hiking as well.

Life in Grenoble (September 4–December 21, 2009)

My travels hit the "big time" with a three-and-a-half-month stay in Grenoble, France. On my first time living for any extended amount of time abroad — and out in the real working world again for the first time in four years — I'm sure my life in Europe will be filled with all sorts of adventures! These pages keep track of those adventures as they happen, in both text and comic-book form.

Five-Mile Hiking Goal (Through September 6, 2013)

I like traveling around, and I like hiking, so at some point I decided to combine the two into a goal of hiking at least five miles in each of the 50 states. This page keeps track of my progress so far.
